  1. Are railings required on porches? 

    In most cases, a railing is required if the floor of the porch is 30 inches or more above grade. Even if your porch floor is lower than 30 inches, we still suggest a porch railing for safety.

  3. Can you replace wood balusters with wrought iron?

  4. What is the difference between balusters and spindles? 

    You’ve probably heard of balusters and spindles before, but what is the difference? These two terms are actually talking about the same thing, the support of a staircase handrail. Although the same thing, balusters usually rest on the footing whereas spindles are supported by horizontal rail at the bottom. 

  5. Can you remodel a staircase?
